Sebastiano Rosa
As is often the case, behind a great wine, there is generally a great wine personality. In the case of Agricola Punica, there is a plethora of top personalities including Giacomo Tachis, one of Italy’s most historically famous oenologists, Marchese Nicolo Incisa della Rocchetta of the estate San Guido, Sebastiano Rosa, and Santadi President Antonello Pilloni.
It was Tachis, according to Sebastiano Rosa, Managing Director of Agricola Punica, who encouraged this elite group to develop the property and focus on Carignano, a grape variety that Tachis instinctively recognized as indigenous to the soils and the climate of this south west coastal area in Sardegna.
Hence, Agricola Punica, founded in 2002 in the area of Sulcis, extends today over 60 hectares and is recognized as one of the most
extraordinary estates in Sardegna, one of the Mediterraneans most illustrious islands.
Barrua ( 85% Carignano – 10% Cabernet Sauvignon – 5% Merlot ) remains one of Sardegna’s top award winning wines, Montessu ( 60% Carignano and 10% each of Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot-Syrah and Cabernet Franc ) beloved for its elegance and drinkability. Samas – 80% Vermentino & 20% Cahrdonnay, released as of 2013, is brimming with minerality and the generosity of the sundrenched land where it was born.
Sebastiano dedicated to creating world class wines in this Sulicis paradise tips his hat to Giacomo Tachis for his vision, guidance and resounding knowledge.
