2010 Ampeleia
see web page
Another compelling red, the 2010 Ampeleia is dark and rich but not at all heavy. An exotic mélange of blackberries, sage, rosemary and crushed rocks emerges over time, but it is the wine’s textural finesse that impresses most. This is a seriously beautiful wine from Ampeleia. The blend is approximately 60% Cabernet Franc, 25% Sangiovese and 15% assorted other grapes.
Drinking window: 2014 – 2025

2011 Kepos
see web page
Juicy, dark and enveloping, the 2011 Kepos wraps around the palate with seemingly endless layers of fruit. The 2011 isn’t a big wine, but it is highly attractive, not to mention impeccably balanced. Hints of rose petal, cinnamon and mint add lift on the finish. This is a drop-dead gorgeous wine from Ampeleia. Kepos is 40% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre, 10% Carignano, 5% Alicante Bouschet and 5% Marsellan.
